Chicken Cafreal / Goan Chicken Fry


 Chicken cafreal is a spicy delicious chicken preparation from Goa. The chicken is marinated with dark greenish paste for long time has a juicy and tender texture. Some potato wedges are also fried in the same oil and it's a lovely combination.  It is so easy to prepare and a unique taste too. It is served as a starter or as a side dish. Start making this yummy dish to please your crowd.
Ingredients:
  1. Chicken- ½ kg
  2. Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  3. Ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
  4. Salt-to taste
  5. Green chilly-2 nos
  6. Cinnamon- 2 small sticks
  7. Cloves-4 nos
  8. Pepper corns-1 tsp
  9. Vinegar-2 tbsp
  10. Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp
  11. Oil-for shallow frying
  12. Potato-1 medium
Preparation:
  • Wash chicken pieces well; drain it and pat the excess water in it with a kitchen towel.
  • In blender add all the ingredients from 2 to 10 and make a fine paste out of it without adding water.
  • Marinate it in the chicken pieces well and keep in fridge for at least 3 hours or a whole night.
  • Shallow fry it in hot oil for few minutes until just cooked (don’t over fry).
  • Peel and cut the potato in to small wedges.
  • Add it in to the chicken marinated bowl (no need of any marination there; but just to get a taste).
  • After frying chicken; add potato wedges in the same oil.
  • Fry it until golden in color; take it out and add it in to the fried chicken.
  • Serve hot and enjoy the great taste …J
