Gulab Jamun



Gulab Jamun is a traditional Indian dessert. The spongy and yummy texture of Gulab jamun makes everyone mouth watery and of course it is one of favorite dessert of all sweet tooth's. It is a milk solids based dessert; simple easy to make at home. Serve  it warm or topped with ice cream.
For the Gulab jamun:
  1. Milk powder-1cup (1cup=200ml)
  2. All purpose flour/ maida-1tbsp (or little more according to the smooth dough consistency)
  3. Butter melted-1tbsp
  4. egg-1
  5. baking powder-1tsp
Preparation:
  • Combine all dry ingredients together.
  • Add butter ; egg and make smooth dough by kneading well.
  • Cover it with a wet towel for 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile make the syrup.
For the  sugar syrup:
  1. Sugar-1cup
  2. Water-2cup
  3. Rose water-2drops(optional)
  4. Cardamom powder- 1/2tsp.
  5. Saffron blended- 1/2tsp.
Preparation:
  • Heat and boil all ingredients in a pan except cardamom powder.
  • Keep stirring till it reaches sticky consistency.
  • Switch off the flame and add cardamom powder.
For the Gulab Jamun:
  • Make small balls with the dough (make sure that there are no cracks on the ball. Grease your palms with little ghee to avoid sticking the dough in your hands).
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • When the oil is hot; make it in to simmer mode.
  • Fry the dough balls until brown in color.
  • Pour these hot fried balls in to the sugar syrup and soak.
  • Serve it after 4 hours.
