Chukkappam is a nostalgic Kerala snack. The fried rice flour bites are look like buttons. It is sometimes served along with fried bites of chicken or beef.

- Rice flour -1 cup (lightly roasted)
- Coconut milk- 1 1/4 cup
- Egg-1 small
- Black sesame seeds- 1/4 tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Oil-for frying
- Boil coconut milk in a heavy bottom pan with salt.
- When it boils, add rice flour and mix well in low flame for a minute and switch off the flame.
- Allow to cool little, make a dough out of it.
- Beat one egg, mix it with sesame seeds.
- Add the egg little by little in to the dough and knead it well to a smooth dough.
- Cover and rest the dough for about 15 minutes.
- After that make tiny dumplings out of it and flatten it using the two fingers and shape it like buttons.
- Heat oil in a pan, fry these chukkappam until golden and drain in to paper towels.
- After cools down completely; store it in an airtight container for long use.
