Tapioca Fry or kozhikkal is a Malabar special savory tea time or ifthar snack. The tapioca (cassava) cut in to juliennes, attached them with them with the help of flour and fry it in the shapes of chicken legs.

- Tapioca (cut as long strips)- 1/4 kg
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder- 2 tsp (use Kashmiri chilly powder for red color)
- Garam masala powder- 1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida/ hing / kayam powder- 1/4 tsp
- Thinly chopped ginger- 1tsp
- Thinly chopped ginger-1 tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
- Besan Flour / chick pea flour / kadalamavu- 4 tbsp
- Rice Flour- 2 tbsp
- Oil-for frying
- Mix all the ingredients from 2 to 11 in a large bowl.
- Add little water to make a thick batter.
- Add chopped tapioca strips in to it and mix well to bind them together.
- Now heat oil in a pan, take a small cylindrical portion from this tapioca mix and add it in to the hot oil.
- Fry in medium flame until nice golden.
- Drain in to paper towels and serve hot with crispiness.
