Bread halwa is a famous sweet dish in India. Here I’m using brown bread for the halwa; so that halwa got a nice color. You can use other white breads also. It is very easy to make. However the bread get cooked easily.
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- Whole meal bread-6pieces (i used brown bread ..that's why the color looks like)
- Milk-2cup
- Sugar-1cup
- Condensed milk- ½ tin
- Cardamom powder- ¼ tsp.
- Ghee-3tbsp
- cashew nuts-to decorate
- coconut flakes-to decorate
- Add a tablespoon of ghee in a pan; fry the cashew nuts.
- Take it out and in the same pan add the bread slices (cut in to small cubes).
- Sauté it on a low flame for 5 minutes till brown in color and crispy.
- Meanwhile boil milk in a deep bottom non-stick pan.
- When it boils, add sugar; stir well until it dissolves completely.
- Add the fried bread pieces in to it; keep stirring.
- Add condensed milk and cardamom powder in to it.
- Stir well until it reaches the halwa consistency. I.e. leaves from the sides of the pan.
- Pour in to a greased pan; when cools down cut in to pieces.
- Decorate with cashew nuts and shredded coconut.
