Fish molly is a low spiced fish curry in which the fish pieces are immersed in coconut milk. It tastes very different from other fish curries. It is a perfect combination with appam.
Ingredients:
To marinate:
- Fish – 10 pieces
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Pepper powder-1tsp
- Lime juice-1tsp
- Ginger garlic paste-2tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Oil-to fry
- Shallots (small onion) chopped- 1 cup
- Green chilli-4nos
- Ginger garlic chopped-1tbsp
- Pepper powder-1tbsp
- Salt-to taste
- Tomato-2small
- Thick Coconut milk-1cup
- Thin coconut milk-2cup
- Cumin seeds- ¼ tsp
- Clove-2
- Cinnamon- 1 piece
- Caradamom-2
- Shallots chopped-2
- Curry leaves-1 string
- Marinate the fish pieces with marinate ingredients.
- Shallow fry it in oil for few minutes till done (don’t over fry)
- Take 1tbsp of oil in pan, sauté shallots.
- Add green chilly and chopped ginger garlic.
- Add pepper powder and sauté for a minute.
- Add thin coconut milk in to and allow boiling for 5 minutes.
- Add thinly sliced tomatoes, fried fish pieces and thick coconut milk.
- Add enough salt and cook for about 10 minutes in medium flame (stir occasionally).
- Season the gravy with fried shallots, cumin seeds, clove, cardamom, cinnamon and curry leaves.
