Lahori Chicken Curry

As its name implies it’s a simple curry originated from Lahore-Pakistan. Now it’s served all over the World restaurants. Even though everyone is making the same named curry with lots of differences; Here is a basic curry recipe among that.
Ingredients:
  1. Chicken- ½ kg
  2. Oil-2 tbsp
  3. Cardamom-2 nos
  4. Clove-2 nos
  5. Bay leaf-1
  6. Cinnamon-1 small stick
  7. Pepper corns- ½ tsp
  8. Cumin seeds- ½ tsp
  9. Onion thinly chopped-1
  10. Ginger garlic crushed-1 tbsp
  11. Green chilly-2 nos
  12. Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  13. Chilly powder-1 tsp
  14. Coriander powder-1 tsp
  15. Salt-to taste
  16. Tomato thinly chopped-1
  17. Thick curd- 3tbsp
  18. Tomato ketchup-2 tbsp (optional)
  19. Garam masala powder- ½ tsp
  20. Coriander leaves thinly chopped- 2 tbsp
Preparation:
  • Heat oil in a pan; add cardamom, cloves, bay leaf, cinnamon, pepper corns and cumin seeds.
  • When it splutters add onion and sauté until nicely browned in color.
  • Add ginger garlic crushed in to it and sauté for a minute.
  • Add chicken pieces along with turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder, salt, curd, green chilly and tomato.
  • Mix well for a minute and add a cup of hot water in to it.
  • Cover cooks it for about 25 minutes or until the chicken pieces are gets cooked well and oil flots on top.
  • Add tomato ketchup and mix well.
  • Then add garam masala powder and coriander leaves chopped.
  • Mix well and switch off the flame.
  • Serve hot with basmati rice or the choice of your Roti.
