Liver masala is a different recipe served as a side dish with rice, roti or bread. It’s an excellent source of dietary iron. Its nutritional values are really high, rich with proteins and vitamins. But unfortunately it is high in cholesterol. Any way it is an occasional choice of cooking for a tasty meal. Here I’m using the chicken liver; u can replace it with mutton or beef according to the choice of mind.
Ingredients:
Liver Masala |
- Chicken liver- ½ kg
- Shallots-1 cup chopped
- Tomato-1 big
- Green chilly-2 nos
- Vinegar-1tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste-1tbsp
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Chilly powder- ½ tsp
- Pepper powder-2tsp
- Thick coconut milk- ½ cup
- Salt-to taste
- Oil-1tbsp
- Curry leaves-1string
- Coriander leaves-few
- Cut the liver in to small cubes and soak with vinegar and ¼ tsp of turmeric powder for 20 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan, sauté shallots until golden in colour.
- Add curry leaves, ginger garlic paste and green chilly, sauté until raw smell goes off.
- Add all the powders one by one followed by the liver pieces.
- Mix well and add ¼ cup water and salt.
- Cook covered about 6-8 minutes.
- Add the cubed tomato pieces and coconut milk.
- Cook for another 5 minutes or until it reaches the thick consistency (no need to cook the tomatoes properly).
- Garnish it with coriander leaves.
