Semolina-Vermicelli Steamed Cake / Semiya-Rava Puttu

Puttu is an authentic breakfast in Kerala. Usually it is prepared with rice flour and coconut grated.
Here is the different ingredient, which is very soft and tasty.


Ingredients:
  1. Vermicelli-1cup
  2. Semolina-1 ½ cups
  3. Chicken masala-1cup
  4. Salt-to taste
  5. Warm water- ¼ cup
Preparation:
  • Cook vermicelli with enough water for about 5 minutes or until cooked.
  • Once it’s done drain and keeps it aside.
  • Roast semolina with 1tsp of ghee and allow cooling.
  • Mix semolina with cooked vermicelli by sprinkling salted  warm water little by little until the mixture gets moistened.
  • Now in the puttu mould add a tablespoon of chicken masala, then 4 tablespoon of semolina-vermicelli mix and again 1 table spoon of chicken masala.
  • Make sure that they cover all sides of the puttu mould or give a small press to fit properly.
  • Cover the mould with lid and cook for about 7-8 minutes or until steam comes out from the mould.
  • Cook the remaining mixture in this way and serve hot.
