Chicken Pallipalayam

Pallipalayam is a city located near by Erode in Tamilnadu state. The chicken fry recipe from there is a popular menu and available in most of the restaurants nearby. It only uses turmeric powder as a spice powder and the preparations are very simple; But the taste was really amazing and standby.
Ingredients:
  1. Chicken-1kg
  2. Ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
  3. Turmeric powder- 3/4 tsp
  4. Salt-to taste
  5. Lemon juice-1 tbsp
  6. Oil-4 tbsp
  7. Mustard seeds-1 tsp
  8. Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
  9. Pearl onions / small onion chopped- 1  1/2 cup
  10. Garlic-6 cloves
  11. Dry Red chilly-7 nos (or more)
  12. Curry leaves-3 springs
  13. Coconut pieces- 2 tbsp
  14. Coriander leaves chopped- 1 handful
Preparation:
  • Marinate chicken pieces with turmeric powder, salt, ginger garlic paste and lemon juice for an hour in fridge.
  • Heat oil in a kadai; splutter mustard seeds and then add cumin seeds.
  • Add coconut pieces and saute until just golden in color.
  • Add dry red chilly brokened and curry leaves.
  • Add pearl onions and saute for a minute until transparent.
  • Add chopped garlic and saute for a minute.
  • Add marinated chicken pieces and mix well.
  • Add one or two tablespoons of water (if required); mix well and cover cooks for about 20-25 minutes until the chicken pieces get cooked well.
  • Switch off the fame by sprinkling coriander leaves on top.
