It's summer; the season for all lovely fruits to ripe..Here is the recipe of jackfruit halwa (chakka varattiyathu)which is a nostalgic sweet for most of us..

- jack fruit- 1/4 kg (de-seeded)
- jaggery- 1/4 kg
- ghee- 3 tbsp
- cardamom powder-1/4 tsp
- fried cashews-few
- Melt jaggery cubes with 1/4 cup of water and after cools down strain it to remove impurities. Keep aside.
- Pressure cook jackfruit with a cup of water for four whistles.
- After releasing the pressure by itself open the lid and cooks it with melted jaggery syrup.
- Cook for about 30-35 minutes or until all the water gets dried off (stir well continuously).
- When it absorbs all the water and started leaving the sides of the pan; add ghee and keep stirring for another 10-15 minutes.
- Add fries cashews and cardamom powder; mix well and switch off the flame.
- Allow to cools down; and serve with a cup of tea...!!!
