Murukku is a crispy Indian tea time snack. Now a days, for most of them it is a nostalgic snack also.Usually we used to buy it from the stores. But we can easily make it at home; if we have the murukku maker (star shaped mold of idiyappam maker).

- Dry roast moong dal and chana dal for a minute in low flame.
- Put it in a blender and make fine powder out of it.
- Mix it with rice four, black sesame seeds, hing, salt and butter.
- Add water little by little and make a smooth dough out of it (don't add too much water; just enough to make a smooth dough).
- Insert a part of the dough inside the murukku maker and make round shaped murukku of desired shape in to a an aluminium foil or banana leaf (to prevent sticking)(or directly in to the ladle).
- Deep fry it in te hot oil until nice golden and crispy.
