Curd Rice / Thayir Sadam

 
Curd rice / Thayir sadam is a famous delicacy of Tamil Nadu. All the kids and both adults will love the recipe. It’s prepared especially during summer season to cool. No more curry or side dish is needed to eat this other than a pickle. It is a wonderful idea for kid’s lunch box. Here is the recipe of preparing curd rice in its most simple way.

Ingredients:
  1. Raw rice/Pachari- ½ cup
  2. Water-2cup
  3. Curd- ¾ cup
  4. Salt-to taste
  5. Oil-1tbsp
  6. Mustard seeds-1tsp
  7. Urad dal-1tsp
  8. Curry leaves-1string
  9. Green chilly-1
  10. Dry red chilly-1
  11. Asafetida-a pinch
Preparation:
  • Wash and drain the raw rice.
  • Cook it with 2cups of water in a pressure cooker for 6 whistles in medium-high flame.
  • When it ready to open; add curd and salt. (the rice should be mashed well consistency).
  • Mix well.
  • In a pan; add oil and splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add urad dal, curry leaves, green chilly, red chilly and asafetida.
  • Add it in to the curd rice.
  • Mix well and serve warm with pickle.
