Milk Peda / Doodh Peda

Milk peda is a very famous Indian sweet especially made in the occasions of Diwali. Its quick easy to make and a wonderful treat for all those who have a sweet tooth. We can use milk and sugar instead of condensed milk, but it takes long time to prepare the peda until the milk thickens completely. For 1cup of milk powder, use 500ml of milk and 3/4 cup sugar.

Ingredients:
  1. Milk powder-1cup
  2. Sweetened condensed milk- 1/2 tin
  3. Ghee-3tsp
  4. Saffron-a pinch
  5. warm milk- 1/4cup
Preparation:
  • Soak saffron in warm milk  for 30 minutes.
  • In a large non-stick pan add condensed milk, milk powder and saffron milk.
  • Mix well to avoid any lumps.
  • Keep stirring while cooking and cook until it starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  • At this stage add ghee and mix well.
  • When all the milk scraps get gathered together in a fine consistency ( completely leaves from all the sides of the pan), switch off the flame.
  • Allow to cool down for few minutes and when it is still warm, make small pedas (with greased hand).
  • It will set within an hour and gets the perfect texture.
  • Store in an airtight container for long use.
