Ingredients For the Chicken Filling:
- Chicken- 1/4 kg
- Onion-1
- Ginger, garlic, green chilly chopped-1tbsp
- Turmeric powder- 1/2tsp.
- Pepper powder-1tsp
- Coriander powder-1/2 tsp.
- Salt-to taste
- Garam masala-1/4tsp
- Coriander leaves-few
- Cook the chicken in a pressure cooker with salt, turmeric and water for 3 vessels by adding 1/4 cup water.
- After cools down drain the chicken stock water and reserve it for gravy.
- Remove any bones from the chicken and mince in to small pieces (or give a quick blend).
- In a pan heat a teaspoon of oil; sauté onion.
- Add ginger, garlic, green chilly chopped; sauté till the raw smell goes off.
- Add all the powders for masala.
- Add minced chicken and coriander leaves in to it.
Ingredients For The Rice Dumplings:
- Roasted Rice Flour-1 cup
- Water- 1 1/4 cup
- Salt-to taste
Preparation
- Boil water by adding salt,
- When it boils add rice four; mix well for a minute in low flame and switch off the flame.
- After few minutes knead the dough in to smooth. (knead when it is hot; but that can manageable with your hands.)
- Divide the dough in to small equal bowls.
- Roll each bowl in to a small circle with your hands or by using a rolling pin.( of half inch thickness). (as shown in the picture below).
- Put a small portion of chicken filling inside it and cover the dough by making a bowl shape again (stick the edges by pressing tightly with your hands) and gently roll it in your hands to make an ovel shape.
- Steam cook these prepared dumplings for about 15 minutes to cook.
- Now prepare the gravy and add theses cooked dumplings in to it.
Ingredients For The Gravy:
- Oil-1 1/2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds- 1/4 tbsp
- Onion extra thinly chopped-1
- Ginger garlic green chilly crushed- 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Chilly Powder- 1/2 tsp
- Coriander Powder-1 tsp
- Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
- Pepper Powder-1 tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Chicken Stock Water-1 cup (from the above chicken cooked water)
- Thick Coconut Milk-1 cup
- Coriander leaves chopped-1 handful
Preparation:
- Heat oil in a pan; splutter cumin seeds, add onion chopped and saute until golden in color.
- Add ginger garlic and green chilly crushed; saute until raw smell goes off.
- Add turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder, salt and garam masala powder one by one after mixing in each addition at low flame.
- Add chicken stock water; when it boils add stuffed rice dumplings and thick coconut milk.
- Coat the rice dumplings evenly with the gravy. (mix gently).
- Cook for about 5 minutes or until the gravy starts thickens.
- Switch off the flame by sprinkling pepper powder and coriander leaves on top.
- Serve warm and enjoy the lovey dumplings!!!!
