Shahi Tukda


 Shahi tukda is a delicious bread pudding. The fried bread slices are soaked in rich milk and nuts. It is particularly made during the holly month of Ramadan and it is great for small party ideas.
Ingredients:
  1. Bread slices-6 nos
  2. Milk-700 ml
  3. Sweetened condensed milk- 3/4 tin
  4. Cardamom powder- 1/2 tsp
  5. Dry fruits and nuts chopped- 1/4 cup
  6. Ghee-for frying bread
Preparation:
  • Trim the edges of bread slices.
  • Deep fry these bread slices in hot ghee on medium flame until nice golden.
  • Take it out and in the same pan, saute dry fruits and nuts for a minute,
  • Boil milk on a heavy bottomed sauce pan, when it boils add condensed milk and stir cook for about 20 minutes or until the milk starts to thickening consistency (creamy consistency).
  • Add cardamom powder and switch off the flame.
  • Arrange the fried bread slices on a wide bowl and pour the creamy milk over it evenly. (so that the bread slices absorbs milk and become tender)
  • Garnish on top with sliced nuts and fruits.
  • Refrigerate for an hour and serve chilled.
